We trace our earliest roots to 1940-41, when Pearl Products Pvt. Ltd. was established by Mr. Gopal Karandikar (an oil technologist) along with a partner, in Kurla, Mumbai. Peral Products Pvt. Ltd. was involved in manufacturing various chemicals and textile auxiliaries with the core strength in manufacturing Tapioca starch and its derivatives. Since then, this business involving manufacture of starch and its derivatives was passed-on in the family. Eventually after several changes in the country's economic scenario Pearl Products Pvt. Ltd. stopped manufacturing Tapioca starch but continued its expertise in manufacturing modified starches for various industrial uses. Mr. Anand Karandikar (son of Mr. Gopal Karandikar) took over the company activities and after closure of Pearl Products Pvt. Ltd.; in 1995, he started his own company Karandikars Orgochem Pvt. Ltd. (now known as Karandikars Cashell Pvt. Ltd.) involved in manufacture of Modified starches, dextrins and starch adhesives. Recently, Dr. Satyajit Karandikar (son of Mr. Anand Karandikar) has joined Karandikars Cashell Pvt. Ltd. (KCPL) as Director; after completing his Masters from UK and PhD in Organic chemistry from Italy. Under his able guidance, KCPL is working towards improvement of existing technology and development of new and specialized modified starches that could be introduced in existing and new markets. KCPL is striving hard to increase the range of its offered products in modified starches as well as starch and modified starch based adhesives. We supply products for textile sizing of cotton or PC yarn, modified starch additive for concrete admixture, dextrins in many other industrial applications. KCPL aims on researching and manufacturing useful modified starches with broader applications in various fields which in turn will help in creating a cleaner and greener environment by substituting harmful chemicals.
